This strictly is a G book group, but I will try to answer your query.

Is your camera plugged directly into your MacBook or through a USB hub. If 
it is through a hub then it is possible the camera is drawing too much 
power on the USB hub and it shuts the port off for safety.

Try plugging it directly into the MacBook or through a USB hub that is 
plugged into to a power supply.
