No. The G3 iBooks all tend to bog down on video in OS X. If you boot into OS 9 you might be able to play video smoothly, BUT, finding the correct software codecs for some modern video formats can be difficult now (OS 9 stuff is drying up and disappearing off the internet). If you need smooth video playback it's best to have at least a G4 Mac laptop. It's the worst thing about Macs as far as I'm concerned. I've got old PC laptops that play all video dead smooth, and same vintage Macs that stumble and skip frames.
