A friend got his ibook painted with a multi-color marblized paint job,  
it was really cool.

This was something I was able to find on the intertubes (no pics  
anymore, unless the pictures are all little square blue question  
marks :-):

This was followed by some folks remarking on how much it now looked  
boring like a Dell :-)

So I'm guessing, you need to look towards automotive techniques and  
materials, and prime it well. I also suspect you should look at how  
people have modded their boring Dells, since that would entail most of  
the same techniques.
