Hi!

Just last night, I encountered the first error and system crash on OS
X Jaguar. I own a Wallstreet (233Mhz, 256Mb RAM) running OS 9.2.2 and
OS X 10.2.8 with a DEAD PRAM. It has been working like a charm for 8
months but last night, it became problematic.

The Wallstreet was running 3 apps at the same time (MS Word, Yahoo
Messenger & Mail) and I was about to transfer a 320Mb file from the
Mac to my USB Flash Drive thru the USB PC Card inserted in Wallstreet.
When I dragged the file the my flash drive window, the Mac froze. I
had no choice but to force restart. During startup, the spinning
circle freezes then a weird screen appeared. The Apple logo was gone
and the middle of the screen looked distorted.

I tried to boot into OS 9 thru the install CD. OS 9 booted fine but
the all the USB devices connected into it doesn't work (even the
mouse!). So I suspect that the USB PC Card is the culprit.

In OS 9, I tried to repair the OS X Partition using Disk First Aid. It
found some problems and were repaired successfully. I restarted into
OS 9 then selected OS X in Startup DIsk. No luck, the same freezing
occurred during startup in OS X.

I also tried to boot thru the install disc of the Jaguar. But again,
startup freezes even a boot from the CD.

Any ideas on the problem?

Nigel
