The O.P. asked which media, specifically, the OEM drive will accept. Definitely accepted are: manufactured CDs and manufactured DVDs (single- and dual-layer). Also most burned CDs Possibly accepted are some burned single-layer DVDs, but not + media. It was because of the very poor media compatibility of Apple's products during the Beige G3 and Wallstreet G3 era that I had to "dual inventory" burned media: - media for the Apples and + media for the set-top boxes. I vowed to eliminate that flaw, and all my Apples were updated to have drives which would accept both + and - media, both single- and dual-layer. Essentially, that meant upgrading to at least B&W and Pismo Apples, and the drives as well. Fortunately, the Pismo media bay accepts a generic 12.7mm drive, unlike the Wallstreet which has a proprietary media bay and is not upgradeable. http://groups.google.com/group/hq-a A home for the Hackintosh community. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
