Was that a single 512MB chip?
There is a known problem with 300MHz CPU tends to overheat when
driving larger RAM.
You will probably find the 400MHz card will handle 512.
I have PowerLogix Bluechip upgrade G4/500MHz/512MB running cooler
than the original G3/266MHz/128MB.
