It sounds like your problem is solved - but just wanted to say, my
trackpad stopped responding once.  It happened as I was downloading
and installing all the various apple updates for Tiger. It was around
update number 4 or 5, out of approximately 9 updates, I think. There
was something unstable in the update number 4 or 5, apparently. After
plugging in a usb mouse so I could get the next batch of updates, the
problem went away. Also, problems with my battery magically
disappeared after getting all the updates. Although yours appears
hardware related, just throwing this out there to let others know that
I suspect software issues can cause shockingly weird issues for the
Pismo, too. Just FYI.
