If you have another mac that can have that battery installed by all means try that first.
You might need to reset the power management unit on your Wallstreet. Check to see if there are any broken pins on the battery and check to see if there is any debris between the battery's and the battery bay's connectors that could be getting in the way of the battery not receiving a charge. What happens if you try to run the computer on the battery alone? One LED on the battery tells me that it has some charge left. Hope this helps but the battery may have just gone and not your computer.
