My Wife's Lombard has been having power management issues lately. pRAM battery is dead, and the main battery is dead, but it works fine on external power. Also, the USB ports have had some issues lately. She uses it primarily in her studio, and it is covered in paint, etc. and pretty scratched up.

So when I saw one on Craigslist for $10 with no HD, HD sled, or ribbon cable. I picked it up for parts. I put in the HD from my wife's computer, and swapped over some of the RAM, as she had more in hers. I put in the DVD decoder, and the Super drive, did some tests, and the PB works like a charm. (BTW as a bonus the new one came with a VST "superDisk" Floppy drive, which means I may never have to hook up my Quadra again :? )

The idea was that the new machine would be for parts. But, it is super shiny, and clean. This is where my quandary comes in. If I leave the HD and RAM in the new machine, It is all set to go. If I want to troubleshoot, and replace parts, I can transfer back to the original machine.

Should I give my wife a shiny new looking case to get paint on?????? Or go through all of the work to swap parts...

Peter
