Well, I'm from Iowa—don't know if the Dem/Lib demographic has
something to do with the Mac distribution, but it seems the Rep/Cons
use PCs and the Dem/Libs use Macs, though I am a notable exception.
Anyway, no political commentary, just pondering.
I've seen the student/pro thing, but I have yet to see a guy using a
MacBook White. All of the guys I've seen with MacBooks have Pros, all
the way from our sociology professor (who is also a professional
"hobbyist" photographer) down to an early-20's student who sits in the
back row in my music appreciation class (there's a girl with an MB
White in the same class). My English prof. (female) uses a BlackBook
from 08—had to have it sent in due to keyboard problems (meanwhile my
Pismo keeps on kicking).
The iPhone is hardly rampant here, though it is growing in user
base. The iPod Touch is more common. Our only Apple Store here in Iowa
is located in the uppity part of Des Moines, which is not exactly a
fun drive from 60 miles north in rural IA, so most people around here
get their Apple stuff from a Best Buy in Ames, or off the Web.
I'm feeling really "out in the holler" right now. Props to you guys
in TN keeping your old 'Books running!!! I'm considering moving down
there someday—know any Apple Stores with job openings?

Greetings from IA,
FFF
