try imaging each partition separately.
I suppose you know there is a newer version of CCC for Tiger and
above.
I always use disk utility. but actually it is based on Apple Software
Restore, which if you read the manual of will give you some
background. You have to create the read-write disk image and then put
that into the restore blank of diskutility and the volume to image
into the restore from.
type "man asr" in Terminal:
ASR(8) BSD System Manager's
Manual ASR(8)
NAME
asr -- Apple Software Restore; copy volumes (e.g. from disk
images)
