As the OP I apologize to everyone. I read what was posted, and though I always
proof-readmy emails and posts, I am seeing spaces missed and "0" where there
should be a hyphen, and it's all unreadable. (Or, written by someone who had
consumed a bottle of Scotch).
And no, I only WISH I had a bottle of Scotch.
ANYWAY.. I remembered that you can fire-wire in from another computer,
using target disk mode, and "service" the HD on the iBook (repair permissions),
and also... copy the Disk Utilityonto the iBook where it had vanished.
So, that can be done.
(copying iPhoto using target disk mode however, does not work.. I think i'll
need Pacifist or something.. the iPhoto program vanished about a year ago..)
anyway, sorry for what was an appalling post.
