Hi

For anyone interested, I have successfully managed to triple boot my
PowerBook G3 Ṕismo - Mac OS 9.2.2, Mac OSX 10.4.11 and Ubuntu 10.10.

It took some doing, and I had to start again a few times, but I eventually
got all three OSes to play nice together.

Here is a brief guide.

Wipe the hard drive, split it into 3 partitions. Install OS9 (I did it on a
2GB partition) and all the updates. Then install OSX (I did it on a 40GB
partition), then use the alternative Ubuntu installer not the regular CD.

The regular CD uses a fancy Úbiquity installer and causes bootstrap
problems. OS9 will create a third partition which you use for Linux but it
makes an HFS one. Use the partitioner in the Ubuntu installer to wipe that
to free space, the partition can then partition that free space as it sees
fit (swap and main) and it will sort out the bootstrap.

Once done, you might need to edit the xorg.conf to get the video to work
depending on what Mac you have. You generally do on older Macs like my
Pismo. Once done you then need to edit yaboot (the linux boot manager) to
add a line for OS9 as it will automatically detect OSX but not OS9.

Finally, the Ubuntu installer messes up the OS9 drivers on the OS9
partition. You need to boot into the OS9 CD and under Drive Setup select
Update Driver under the Functions menu, otherwise you will just get a
flashing floppy.

Once done you can now boot to which ever OS you feel by selecting it in the
Yaboot menu. Linux is default but you can change this if you wish.

I now have three OSes.

I thought I would share this with you as it was a trial to get it working
fully.
