I have the original iBook Clamshell G3, running at 300MHz, 32MB of onboard RAM, a 3GB hard drive, and the 24x CD-ROM drive. What intrigues me is how when I boot the computer, a loud buzzing noise comes from the CD-ROM drive. This only lasts for about 2 seconds, but is a nuisance to me. After I boot into Mac OS 8.6, the drive refuses to read working music CDs, which I know work because I have tested them on my iMac G3. If anybody knows how to fix this without completely disassembling the iBook, please let me know.
