how are you restarting the PowerBook when it crashes? If you're using
the little button next to the modem port... that button is the "power
manager reset" button and will wipe the date and time every time you
hit it. :)
Try doing a 3-finger-salute instead... command-control-power... to restart.
If you're doing a 3-finger-salute, then the internal battery in your
PowerBook may be dead (this is a different battery from the battery
you run off of when not plugged in). Try resetting the power manager
properly (remove all power by unplugging the powerbook and removing
the batter, hold the reset button in for a few seconds, wait 5
seconds after you let go, then add power and start up.) If that
doesn't fix it, it may need to see a service tech.
