Recognizing that this is not a suitable topic for this list, I still must comment on the view expressed earlier (I'm on Digest) concerning film being preferable to digital for photography today.
I have been a working photojournalist for over 30 years and since the advent of the Nikon D1x I think digital quality has surpassed film. The images are better, the prints are better and the ease of use is better in a million ways. I still shoot both ways out there in the real world, but I cringe and moan when the client insists on film. The suggestion that digital cameras are only worthwhile for online use is so absurd. What cameras do you think are being used for the photos you see in TIME, NEWSWEEK & countless other publications? Digital images were placed on the sides of tall buildings (the kind Superman used to leap) at the Salt Lake Olympics. Oh, and Canon cameras are good too. -- Thomas S.
