There were basically 2 different brands of drives used in the Pismo. The
defective one was an "LG", IIRC. If you go in Apple System Profiler, in the
devices and volumes section, you should see whether "LG" or "Matshita" plus
driver model, etc. So, if yours has the "LG" mention with no mention to
Matshita, then that's probably your problem...
