I agree with every single thing Shawn said, even if it isn't popular.

Really, this was handled in a very, very bad and even ignorant manner. This
guy did nothing wrong except for register an expired domain name. Suddenly
everyone and their mother is calling him a pirate, presenting things to the
lists and others with no real factual information.

To make matters worse, you gave out the persons email, requesting people to
mail him and dotster saying how awful you thought it was.

Think about that. They gave out this guys personal email (and in some cases
his ISP's info), gave an ignorant supposition of how awful he was, then told
all the people to email him telling him so. It is practically the equivalent
of mail bombing and slander.

Really, Dan Knight, MacSlash, and whoever emailed this poor guy owe him a
personal and private apology.
