I am now looking for beta testers to test an application I just finished writing called "File Synchronization". For those that did use the Apple's tool by the same name under MacOS 9, you know what I'm talking about. For the others, this tool, running only on OS X, has the ability to synchronize 2 folders with their content or 2 separate files. The volumes where those folders and files reside can be local or can be AppleShare volumes. I haven't done testing on Windows shared volumes through Samba since I don't have a Windows machine at home. That would be interesting to check. The tool has been designed to keep much of the easy configuration and operation that the Apple's tool has. There is no such notion of documents to save your synchronized folders like most tools are using. You just launch the app and it remembers the folders you want to synchronize and the options you set to synchronize them. It's been designed after the Apple's tool, but I did improve some areas where I thought the Apple's tool was a bit annoying with its limitations.
If you think you could use such tool on a regular basis, then I might be looking for you. You have to be running Mac OS X, and have a few sets of folders you would want to synchronize or copy over another volume on the same computer or another computer. If you are interested, send a reply to this message to my personal email [EMAIL PROTECTED] and make sure that the subject contains "file synchronization". Tell me what version of OS X you're running, the model of PowerBook or Macintosh you are using and a list of the folders you want to synchronize and the frequency you need to synchronize them. Thank you. -Laurent. -- ============================================================================ Laurent Daudelin <http://members.cox.net/nemesys> Logiciels Nemesys Software mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe, trying to produce bigger and better idiots.
