Yup, had this happen to my power adapter (TiBook, 3months old)) last Friday night. I went to the local Apple Store on Campus and they made me buy a second adapter, whilst taking care of the broken one over the weekend. On Tuesday Morning I was scheduled to pick up the fixed one, and I brought the new one along to return it. As it turned out they wanted to give me a brand new one to replace the broken one. This time I dealt with much more sensible gentleman and he simply reimbursed me and I kept the new adapter and just returned the box. Go figure. I hope you can get a replacement right away without shelling out the $80, even if it was only transiently. Principally I would not mind having a second power adapter, but then none of the standard Apple ones. I really love my TiBook, but the power adapter sucks big time (when will they finally introduce a more sturdy version with a angled plug).
