I got myself a "PowerBook 2000" wetsuit-like bag from macimports.com,
maybe 2 years ago. Mine's just black wetsuit material with a thin
plastic window on the top to match the curves of my Pismo (and you can
see the white Apple logo). The entire thing is zippered on 3 edges, and
has elastic straps that hook onto the corners of a laptop such that you
can open and use a laptop without taking off the "bag".

I have to vouch for this setup. I carry my Pismo in backpacks, in
motorcycle hardbags, and in the handlebar-mounted basket of my bicycle.
The cover is just thick enough that it's more like a sleeve. I can
stuff one or two small items (like a power supply) inbetween the laptop
and the sleeve if I need to.

Probably the best thing about the "wetsuit" containers is that they
become part of your laptop. If I'm on the road, in a coffee shop, or at
a friend's house, I just zip open the sleeve and go to work. When I'm
done, the entire ensemble is barely bigger than just the laptop, so I
*can* stuff it into a backpack, under a car seat, or on a book shelf.
Finally, I don't have to worry about all the crap that accumulates in
the bottom of my backpack/car floor/living-room somehow seeping into my
pismo.

Stay tuned for future product endorsements! (sorry for the length)
