I'd try and get a Lucent-based card. They seem to have better range than,
say, the Linksys variety. I have both the Linksys WPC11 and the Lucent
Silver, both work fine in OSX.

There are plenty of places to get a Lucent cheap. They have changed names a
bunch of times over the years, so Agere, Avaya, Lucent, Orinoco are all the
same thing. Silver is for 64-bit WEP, and Gold is for 128-bit WEP. Any
silver can be hacked to 128-bit WEP very simply.

For places to buy, shop around. www.hyperlinktech.com has the avaya stuff
pretty cheap and are a reputable company. www.justdeals.com has a few
802.11b cards for really cheap, and a friend has ordered there several times
without incident. If you know someone that works for Agere systems, you can
have them purchase a nice cheap gold card for you
http://www.agere.com/empsalesorinoco/index.html.

Otherwise, I can get you some Orinoco Silvers for $60 + shipping from a
contact that I've been using to get some stuff from. Contact off list
please.
