Pepe:
Hi. I put in an older model 5400 drive when I upgraded and saw a noticeable
difference in speed. I hesitate to put a number to it, but it was similiar to when I
went from 256 megs of RAM to a gig. A nice pickup. They've got those 5400 drives
with 8 or 16 meg RAM caches now, so you ought to see a more noticeable difference.
I got the 32 gig IBM drive because it was pretty cheap and at the time the other
options were 48 or 60 gig drives. I don't think I ever got past 6 gigs when I used
the original drive, which I kept and put in a firewire case. More than enough for my
needs.
Good luck.
