Well, from my understanding, some manufacturers who make RAM adhere more closely
to the official specs for the type of RAM they're making (be it SDR, DDR, etc)
than others.
I don't think that "OEMPCWorld" RAM isn't deliberately sold with misleading
specs--as you
imply, that would be wrong. I think that cheaper RAM is cheaper RAM because
it's not as
well made (less quality and control of the manufacturing processes?), and
it's not as tested
as rigorously as it should be. But I'm not a Computer Engineer, so I suppose
there's a more
detailed explanation as to why cheaper RAM will fail more that more expensive
RAM, even
though they are made to the same spec.
All I know is that I once bought a cheap stick of 512 MB PC-133 RAM from some
PC Inventory
Clearance place, and when I put it in my G4, it wouldn't show up in my system.
And of course,
they then told me that they wouldn't take refunds...(and instead gave me "in-store
credit".)
