Apparently it is a known problem with at least some TiBooks. I saw it
mentioned on another email list a few months ago.

My husband works at the Dept. of Biochemistry at the local university,
supporting a lot of Macs, and recently a professor had to send her new
TiBook back to Apple because it was overheating so much that the screen
image would get warped. Apple worked their magic and took care of the
problem. On the other hand, the network administrator at my workplace just
got a new TiBook and has had no problems.

Other than that, I have no further info. :O
