One word--expandability. It has a PC card slot, two firewire, two USB, audio in (stereo!), S-Video out, expansion bays (two batteries, for instance), and also a beautiful screen, and a nice keyboard, and wonderful battery life. You can upgrade it to a G4 processor if you want. :-) I bought mine over the original G4 precisely because of its expansion capabilities.
