I recall reading, back when the new PowerBook G3 series came out, that Apple decided to position the logo so that, when the PowerBook was closed, it appeared right-side-up for the user. Their reasoning was that when the newly designed PowerBooks were closed, the user might become confused as to which side was which, since the front and rear looked very similar at a quick glance. Apple believed most users would subconsciously position it so the logo appeared right-side-up. While the front and back is very similar, it's not that difficult to figure it out. I was disappointed in Apple for thinking we users could be so dimwitted that we couldn't figure it out on our own. I mean, if I were that dumb and tried to open it the wrong way, I would quickly come to realize the proper way to open the unit. Besides, I would rather have embarrassed myself once or twice by attempting to open my Wallstreet (first of the PowerBook G3 series) incorrectly than explain to a number of people why my logo was upside down when open (which I did have to do on a few occasions during the 2 years I had one). For a company that prides itself on having a more intelligent user base, they sure didn't give us the benefit of the doubt here. I'm glad they got it straightened out with the Titanium and iBooks. -Mark -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
