There are those who suggest that dead pixels, being powered by living
crystals, can be brought back to life by gentle rubbing. Maybe. I guess it's
worth a try if all else fails.......
There's also an interesting little freeware utility that tracks dead pixels
on your screen, called by an amazing coincidence Dead-pixel Tracker. You can
get it here: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/6709
It won't fix your problem but it'll show you the extent of the damage :-(
