I think that this has something to do with whether your computer features
"OpenFirmware" or not. The ability of selecting which startup disk at bootup
time is provided by this little program that is stored in the firmware.
Older Macs don't have this "OpenFirmware", as Apple calls it. I get the
choice with my Pismo but not on my Blue & White G3 which is just slightly
older than the Pismo...
