I am trying to install MacOS X 10.2 ("Jaguar") on a
PowerBook G3 Family Number M7572 (USB/FireWire, "Pismo")
and am running into a couple of annoying problems:

1. system freezes just before drawing dock on bottom
of screen if I do not hold down the SHIFT key to
   force a "safe" boot

2. internal modem is not recognized. Only "Built-In
Ethernet" is listed as a choice in the Network
   System Preferences. During initial install/config
choices are presented for cable modem, DSL modem, etc.
but the choice for phone modem is grayed out.

I can provide more details, but I'll keep this e-mail
short for now. Are these known problems?
