did you try resetting the power manager? unfortunately my experience 
with lombards (or any other pre-ibook G3) is limited to basically what 
i read here, i wouldnt be able to tell you exactly /how/ to do this, 
but i assume its just the small reset button that you'd find inside the 
little port-cover.
