Here's an update on the upgrade. First of all, Powerlogix has been very responsive, getting back to me within hours each time I've emailed them.
They had me pull the heatsink and remove the thermal pad and use Arctic Silver II (which I happen to have a tube of) and reattach the heatsink. The pismo is running ok when used alone, but when I connect an external monitor and keyboard and mouse, it crashes when playing the UT intro movie. It seems to be a heat related issue. After the crash, the cache software is reporting a cpu temp of over 52C. When the machine is cold (under 48C), it works fine, but after running for a while, it gets unstable.
