I agree with the reply from John. If you can, you should try to reformat the
disk. Then, there is always the possibility that the RAM you added is not
completely compatible with OS X. There have been numerous reports from
people having problems installing OS X because of added RAM. I'm guessing
that you did add a 256 MB to a 64, so that removing the 256 is not really
practical...
