If you were installing on an older PowerBook (Wallstreet), you would have to
install OS X within the first 8 GB of the disk, but other than that, I can't
see any reason of installing one before the other. If your disk is
completely empty, you might want to start installing OS 9 first, then boot
from the OS X installer CD and install OS X.
