It is my understanding that VST USB Floppy drives do work OK, my course 
of action would be to move the data to CD or Zip now before you sell 
the Quadra and then not have to worry about the floppy drive. But 
regardless, keep in mind that after you install OS X you can still boot 
into OS 9 and access the drive there no matter if OS X supports it or 
not so you would not be stuck regardless.
