Hi listers,
Ever since Mac OS X was released, I was always excited about the Jaguar
release.
Indeed, when I first encountered Linux many years ago, part of me was
hoping that somehow Apple would incorporate UNIX into Mac OS. I think they
tried that with Rhapsody but it never eventuated.

Jaguar is indeed an excellent operating system in relation to stability and
user friendliness, but I'm a bit put off at the sluggishness of it. True,
my Pismo only has 192MB of RAM, but it appears that you need to be using a
pretty fast Mac to get the speed cranking in Jaguar. Yes, I also realize
that UNIX is a large OS and requires massive memory to run properly. I just
can't get used to the fact that things were just so much faster in OS8/9.
Drag and drop operations were lightning fast in OS9, when compared to
Jaguar.

Still, it's a good operating system and it can only get better as time
progresses.

Okay - next topic:

Apple used to have a File Synchronization utility in OS8; which enabled
users to sync folders & files in 2 locations (say, the hard drive and a Zip
disk). Is there an OSX implementation of this? More importantly, is it
free? I do miss this feature as I use Zip disks a lot.

Many thanks,
Mark.
