thanks for response raymond, i wish it were that simple...i do place the cd correctly on spindle. combo drive behavior was replicated by apple tech person. hence the replacement of drive. doesn't seem to have done the trick though. > > Slightly more worrying is the fact that I have problems > writing CDs.
