My dim recollection from the old posting (I wish I had saved that text) was that something in the MAC file system was confusing the smart media file system. All I know is the card worked in the camera and in the PC notebook, I tried reading it in the 520 powerbook and got a card error. After trying to read the card in the MAC I was unable to read the card in the camera or in the PC. This has only happened to me twice over the last 5 or 6 years but it's scary enough so that I no longer read the smart media card in the PC card slot on the Wallstreet.
