I could be wrong, but I think the "happy mac" is the little Mac Classic
that smiles at you BEFORE the startup screen.  That is a whole
different animal...

BTW, a great app for changing startup screens at will is
StartupScreenOmatic.  (I use it in 9, so I cant speak for how it works
in X...)
