PowerBook G3 Series (Lombard) 333MHz and 400MHz, The Wallstreet had all legacy ports, the Lombard had SCSI but also had USB, the Pismo had FireWire and USB with no legacy ports.
All iBooks have USB. The 2400 and 3400 can take USB PC Cards as can the Wallstreet. I believe all USB PC Cards are Cardbus cards and therefore do not work in the 1400 and earlier. I could be wrong but its something to look into. You could get a PowerPC PCI based desktop for $100 or less and add a $20 USB card ... might be cheaper, I can't imagine that if he is doing his work on a 6100 and a 540c that he really needs hardcore computing.
