I realize that even with the slow down the external Firewire is faster than the internal 4200 rpm laptop drive, but there is also a big difference in speed when I use my external Firewire drive with my G4/933 and my Pismo 400. I was just stating that the external Firewire drive will be slower on a Powerbook than on a desktop running at the same speed, because of the Firewire ports on the Powerbook..
