Not sure that it relates to your problem, but after searching the Apple
Discussion Board, in the Mac OS X section, I've found a few Travelstar
related posts, one of them explaining the failure to mount of his FW
enclosure that has a Travelstar drive. From what I could read, it seems that
the drive was trying to pull too much power from the bus, resulting in
intermittent problems. That would happen only on the Pismo. He said that
when using his enclosure with a tower, it would work flawlessly. The user
continued by saying that when he powered the enclosure externally, the drive
would always work as expected. Here is the URL to that message:
