I had my Pismo RAM in all different combinations, including 512 in the bottom and 512 in bottom, 64 on top. I never found one that didn't work. Also, make sure the processor card is securely in place, especially if the 'Book won't start up after you install it. Getting the card seated just right can be a hassle sometimes...
