a fan really shouldn't be necessary. generally speaking, just elevating 
the rear or making sure to only use the powerbook on a flat, even, 
solid surface should suffice. that said, the PowerBook 800 is supposed 
to be the 'Book that runs the hottest of all (I think).

RoadTools makes a device called the PodiumPad that raises the rear, 
it's more intended to give powerbook keyboards the angle that most 
typists are used to having in a keyboard. The added benefit is that it 
gives an added buffer allowing PowerBooks to be used as laptops (which 
Apple does NOT recommend -- Apple staffers will tell you it's a 
Portable Computer, not a Laptop. Come to think of it, virtually all 
portable manufacturers are doing this now).
