I second the suggestion of a Lombard. It might be overkill for what you 
want to do, but it can take dual batteries (which will probably give 
you at least three hours and as much as six if it's anything like my 
Wallstreet).

For that matter, you could get a Wallstreet. It also can take dual 
batteries, and you should be able to get 1.5-3 hours on just one 
battery. The only problem is that it's 2" thick and it weighs 8 lbs. 
Also, avoid the 12" passive matrix version, the 13" active matrix 
version (bad connection problems on many, many machines) and the 
original 233 MHz version (which had no L2 cache, slowing it down a 
lot). I suppose you could get the original 233 if you want to save 
money and don't mind pokey performance, but keep in mind that it is the 
worst performer of all G3 PowerBooks. There was a version of the second 
233 that had a 12" active matrix screen - it's fine, if you want to get 
that.
