I use exactly the same setup, but with a bungee cord instead of a strap to hold it in place. Normally I use my 2300c instead of my Pismo, because it is smaller and cheaper to replace if anything happens to it. I have a Garman GPS III+ on the dash, but the screen on the 2300c and the Street Atlas map is really great and much larger than the GPS III+.
I also wish they would bring back support for the Mac, but version 6 still works for me 99% of the time.
