This is kind of a long explanation, but here goes:

After switching back to a Pismo from an iBook (600/combo), I really
noticed the difference in weight. The extra pound or so is noticeable
when you're carrying a bunch of other stuff in your briefcase as well.
I've also begun doing more traveling, so I was considering the TiBook
because of the bigger screen. I had been using the Pismoon an external
monitor at the office, so screen resolution wasn't terribly important
until recently.

I'd maxed out the Pismo at 1GB and added a G4/500, and it was
performing really well, but I had the opportunity to get a TiBook 550
with a combo drive at a really good price, so I decided to go for it.
That gives me the bigger screen while travelling, while slightly
reducing the weight I'm carrying everyday. I know the performance will
likely be the same or slightly less due to the absence of the L2 cache
in the 550, but it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make. I'll also be able
to take advantage of Quartz Extreme, due to the Radeon Mobility in the
TiBook.

I tested the waters here to sell the Pismo, but ended up passing it on
to my younger brother, who's upgrading from a Wallstreet 300 that I
gave him about 4 years ago. He insisted that if I was going to sell it,
I had to sell it to him, as he knows how well I take care of my
computers.

I'm still a big fan of the Pismo. We still have one that my wife uses
as her only computer. I split my time between a G4 Cube at home for
gaming and everyday tasks, and a Powerbook for traveling and work.

cheers,
-Hal
