Any Help? -------------- >From what I have "learned" by doing a bit of "burning" and by a bit of reading of other's experiences, it seems that there a lot of variables that couse different machines to vary in their sussess in reading "burned" disks.
One variable is the combination of laser power and speed of burn. The faster the disk is burned, the less time the laser spends heating the disk media to form the pits that represent the data. Burning at the upper end of your "envelop" may result in pits that are marginally within specifications for a "satisfactory" burn. Some readers may be at the lower end of of their specified "reading" ability and thus be unable to read these disks. Another variable is the media itself. Depending on the quality control of the manufacturer or the designed "heat deformation acceptance" of the foil in the media, some burners may not produce consistent results in burning the pits into the foil. Again, depending on the latitude of the various readers, marginal disks will produce inconsistent results. Also, the age and cleanliness of the reader or the burner will further impact the consistency of the burned media. It seems to me, that about all the "amateur" can do is purchase "higher end" ($) media, burn at "moderate" speeds, and keep your machines clean. Still, expect a few "less than successful" disks.
