A point of clarification (I didn't make this clear enough the first time *sigh*...That's what I get for rushing an answer off...): You MIGHT be able to boot the computer off a CD that came with another Mac, but you won't be able to install the OS. In the example above, the OS version is newer than that that came with the 1400 originally (7.6?), so it was able to boot. But DEFINITELY not installable. Everything I said in my previous post still holds true, except that you MIGHT be able to boot off the CD if it's a newer OS version. Thanks for pointing this out.
