Today I measured the voltage on the PMU battery, and it

Regardless of any other problems, the 6 cell battery should show at
least 7.2 volts. Each cell should have a nominal 1.2 volts. It is a
rechargeable battery and should always show it's full voltage unless it
has just been discharged and not recharged of course.

Therefore, since it is not showing 7.2 volts (or slighlty more) it is
defective or its source of power is less than what it should be.
